Here are several projects that involve UX research or UI interface design:

Happy Camper

2023 group project   #UI    #Branding    #Prototype    #AdobeXD

Happy Camper offers a mobile UI platform designed to help local campers plan their upcoming trips with greater efficiency.

The platform includes features such as finding camp destinations, exploring activities, booking itineraries, creating checklists, and effortlessly splitting costs among the group.

Branding guide

Before delving into all the features and prototypes, establishing a branding logo and color scheme is crucial. This not only provides inspiration but also serves as a guiding element for how potential future users perceive the service when interacting with it.

Google Flights Usability test analysis

2023 project   #UXResearch    #UsabilityTest    #SystemUsabilityScale    #Figma

The Google Flight UX analysis case study includes usability tests, user studies, and system usability evaluations. Using current UX methodologies, the group of researchers presents several UI solutions to enhance the user's experience.

Business Problems

  1. Current Google travel ecosystem is fragmented for travellers

  2. Google is struggling to drive significant consumer revenues from Flights

Key Hypotheses

  • HYPOTHESIS 1
Providing a one-stop platform that contains all information of a f light will attract more users to utilize the platform.
  • HYPOTHESIS 2
Users are more likely to book with Google Flights when presented with exclusive discounts and promotions, such as loyalty program rewards.
  • HYPOTHESIS 3
Users will complete the entire flight booking process on Google Flights without the need to leave the platform when they can effortlessly access and compare various flight-related information, not limited to just prices, at a glance.

User Study Overview

Our user study started with a pool of 26 candidates in the initial screening. From this pool, we were able to invite 5 participants to complete our 3 comprehensive usability tests

Throughout these tests, several observations were made and recorded within our Rainbow spreadsheet.

When 3 tasks are completed & rainbow spreadsheet is recorded, we asked all participants to fill out the System Usability Scale (SUS) form to provide further insight into the usability aspects of our study.

Key Takeaways

  • Users didn’t apply or realize there were filters that could have improved their search
  • There is a big difference between casual vs. experienced flyers in terms of knowledge and needs
  • Users had trouble with seeing and understanding the value of loyalty rewards on any platform
  • Carbon emissions data played no role in the decision-making process
  • Users had to pivot to fragmented processes in order to complete tasks
  • The time of flights was the most important factor in decision-making

Recommendations

  1. Emphasize search filters by harnessing existing negative space and introducing more color contrast to improve the findability of the filters for users. Use snack bars to nudge the user.
  2. Introduce air alliance indicators within the search results so users who may not be familiar with an airline can know immediately which alliance the carrier is part of.
  3. Move carbon emissions data from the primary search results view to the secondary view presented when the user clicks for additional flight details.
  4. Incorporate rewards/loyalty program filters and include them in the flight information displayed to users.

Current vs. Recommendation
